ATOUR operator has apologised after a family was left without hot water during their holiday at a four-star hotel in Greece.

Hettie Louise Derrick, 27, said there was no kettle, kitchen facilities or hot water in their room at Atlantica Porto Bello Beach in Kos.

Hettie, who went on holiday with her partner, five-year-old daughter Georgie and 23-month-old son Jax, said she had to wash her son’s bottles in the bath.

Hettie said: “We arrived on September 5 and waited for our room to be cleaned.

“After entering the room I found there were no kitchen facilities, no kettle and no hot water so I had to wash my son’s bottles in the bath.

“I contacted reception and was told to deal with it for now as they would send someone to take a look in the morning.

“But no-one came until the following afternoon.”

Hettie said she was also disappointed when she was told the bar at the swimming pool would be unavailable and found the bath water to be brown in colour.

The mother of two, from Newport, said: “I’d never come here again. My partner also had pink chicken one night. Luckily he didn’t eat it – he spat it out – but he had diarrhoea the following day.

“I’ve also been unwell and now the baby has got diarrhoea.”

Hettie said she paid £1,700 for the week’s holiday and said it was worse than when they had previously stayed in a three-star hotel.

She said: “I just think it’s disgraceful. I would never come back here again. It has really put me off.”

First Choice has apologised to the family. A spokeswoman said: “We are sorry to hear of the Derrick family’s experience.

“We are in direct contact with the customer to apologise and resolve the matter.

“We’d like to reassure customers that we regularly audit all of the hotels we feature in respect of health and safety, including hygiene.”
