Wales On Sunday

How they rated

-

LUKASZ FABIANSKI

Two vital early stops from Kane and Son that gave his side hope and then carried on his form after the break with a wonder stop from Kane.

KYLE NAUGHTON

Struggled without much support from Sanches, but also his own worst enemy at times with daft decisions and weak use of the ball.

MIKE VAN DER HOORN

Brought back in and, as he did at Palace, impressed. Some poor passes out from the back but stayed focused and firm.

ALFIE MAWSON

Did plenty of simple things right and joined in with Fernandez’ bullying of the area around him, showing calmness at the same time.

MARTIN OLSSON

Still not back to form of last year but some signs that he’s on his way back with some inroads up flank. Survived penalty scares.

SAM CLUCAS

Played in the central base of the midfield three and showed great reading of the game. On hand to do the right things when his team needed them.

TOM CARROLL

Put in an incredible shift to shadow the movement of Tottenham’s second line of attack while also busting a gut to involve himself on counter. Some deliveries below his best but a happy return to Spurs all the same.

RENATO SANCHES

Felt like a luxury in side to start with when Spurs’ movement worried so much, but class on ball led to Swansea best chances of counter. Better but better still needed.

JORDAN AYEW

Was the main source of the high press and one or two runs to trouble Tottenham though didn’t get the support from pressed midfield behind him to make more of an impact.

TAMMY ABRAHAM

Had a thankless task against Spurs’ centre-backs but showed good strength and intelligence. Still guilty of turning ball over too often when side need to relieve pressure.

SUBSTITUTES

Leroy Fer (for Sanches 58): Offered solid presence in midfield when needed. 7 Wilfried Bony (for Abraham 72): HEld up play to take the pressure off. Was a threat. 7 Wayne Routledge (for van der Hoorn 85): Late help to stop wing attacks. 6
