LAST season’s semi-finalists Caernarfon Town are on the march again in the JD Welsh Cup after beating Lex Glyndwr 5-1 to reach the second round proper of this season’s competition.
Prolific striker Jamie Breese fired another two goals with Nathan Craig, Chris Williams and Jay Gibbs also on the scoresheet for the Huws Gray Alliance leaders.
Matt Harrison had earlier given the visitors a surprise lead.
Joining them in the next round are Berriew who won 4-0 at Abermule with Richard Davies’ hat-trick inspiring the victory.
Meanwhile two goals from Steve Lewis and another from Jamie McDaid earned Holywell Town a 3-0 victory over Corwen while Lee McBurnie’s effort helped Brickfield Rangers see off reigning FAW Trophy holders Chirk AAA 1-0.
Goals from Richie Foulkes, Alan Bull and Kyle Smyth saw Flint Town United get past Llanfair United 3-0 while a brace from Dean Sage and a Joe Morgan effort helped Llandudno Junction to a 3-1 victory at Gaerwen.
Elsewhere Guilsfield are also in the hat for round two after a 4-0 win over Mold Alex. Adam Jenkins was at the double.
Denbigh Town edged a thriller Holyhead Hotspur 4-3 after extra-time against Holyhead Hotspur, while Penley are through after winning a penalty shootout 5-3 at Mochdre Sports after the sides were deadlocked at 1-1 after extra-time.
