Pensioner stuck in car in ambulance wait after crash
A 70-YEAR-OLD woman was stuck inside a car as she waited almost three hours for an ambulance to arrive at the scene of a crash.
June Bishop had been told to remain inside the car until the ambulance arrived.
South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said it was just under three hours until the ambulance arrived at the scene of the crash on Middle Road in Gendros, Swansea.
The two-car crash happened at the junction with Upper Gendros Crescent and left another car on its side after it went into the front garden of a house.
Fire crews were called to the scene at 12.54pm yesterday and said they were helping a person who was trapped inside a blue Fiesta.
The area was cordoned off and a “Give Way” sign was put in place with debris scattered around the area.
Mrs Bishop’s daughter Dawn was in the hairdresser’s when she had a telephone call to tell her what had happened.
At the time, she said: “We’ve been waiting more than two hours for an ambulance – it’s absolutely diabolical. If we could move her I would take her to hospital myself.”
Fire crews from Swansea and Sketty as well as a fire officer were at the scene.
A passer-by said: “The car has flipped over nearly into someone’s house.
“It has definitely taken out some of the wall in the garden.”
The road was closed while emergency services were at the scene.
