CAR­MARTHEN QUINS re­turned to west Wales with max­i­mum points af­ter edg­ing out Bedwas at the Bridge Field.

The open­ing stages saw Quins cross out wide; good hands putting wing Matthew John over on six min­utes.

Bedwas’ re­sponse was im­me­di­ate with two tries from Pat Lewis.

A cou­ple of Quins penal­ties by Aled Thomas brought them back into the game af­ter Bedwas had spurned a few op­por­tunists to ex­tend their lead.

Just be­fore the break Quins No.8 Lewis Millin was yel­low carded for a swing­ing arm and Bedwas took ad­van­tage by mov­ing the ball across the three quar­ters for Lewis to cross for his hat-trick try and Bedwas a 20-13 half time lead.

On the restart Bedwas gained a fourth try bonus point when good counter at­tack­ing saw scrum-half Luke Crane cross and Joe Scrivens con­vert.

Millin re­turned from the bin to fin­ish off a flow­ing move wide out and, with their tails up, Quins drove at the home line with wing Dy­lan Mor­gans get­ting the try.
