CARMARTHEN QUINS returned to west Wales with maximum points after edging out Bedwas at the Bridge Field.
The opening stages saw Quins cross out wide; good hands putting wing Matthew John over on six minutes.
Bedwas’ response was immediate with two tries from Pat Lewis.
A couple of Quins penalties by Aled Thomas brought them back into the game after Bedwas had spurned a few opportunists to extend their lead.
Just before the break Quins No.8 Lewis Millin was yellow carded for a swinging arm and Bedwas took advantage by moving the ball across the three quarters for Lewis to cross for his hat-trick try and Bedwas a 20-13 half time lead.
On the restart Bedwas gained a fourth try bonus point when good counter attacking saw scrum-half Luke Crane cross and Joe Scrivens convert.
Millin returned from the bin to finish off a flowing move wide out and, with their tails up, Quins drove at the home line with wing Dylan Morgans getting the try.
Bedwas were reduced to 13 when Adam Williams and Jacob Chilcot were carded. SCORERS: BEDWAS – Tries: P Lewis (3), L Crane, D Macintosh; Cons: J Scrivens (3); Pen: J Scrivens CARMARTHEN QUINS – Tries: M John, L Millen, D Morgans, G Rees, E Lloyd; Cons: A Thomas (2); Pens: A Thomas (2)
