Sweet-toothed castle raiders are hunted
POLICE are investigating after thieves broke into a Welsh castle and stole six bags of sweets.
The thieves are believed to have got into the gift shop at Castell Coch between it closing on Friday night and opening on Saturday morning.
A spokeswoman for South Wales Police said a door on the shop had been broken but nothing historical was damaged.
She added that a blanket, item of jewellery and six bags of sweets had been taken.
Conservation work is currently being undertaken at the historic site on the outskirts of Cardiff and there is scaffolding around some of the sides of the castle.
Scenes of crimes officers were at the castle yesterday morning and police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
A spokeswoman for Cadw said that the castle was closed for a time yesterday so investigation work could be carried out, but it re-opened again in the afternoon.
Anyone with information is asked to contact 101 quoting reference number 409034.
