1 Whale-watch­ing Su­perb op­por­tu­ni­ties ex­ist for see­ing hump­backs breach­ing and calv­ing dur­ing whale-watch­ing sea­son (Mar-oct), with the largest num­bers spot­ted from May on­wards. Boat trips are avail­able.

2 Hik­ing From Adamstown, there are good walks (two hours each way) to both Ted­side’s Western Har­bour and the mag­i­cal St Paul’s pool.

3 Wild swim­ming Lo­cals mostly swim at The Land­ing, which is like a wave pool, but St Paul’s ( pictured) is spe­cial; a sub­limely gor­geous nat­u­ral pool ( pictured above), it can be dan­ger­ous due to wave-driven tides.

4 Div­ing There is ba­sic equip­ment avail­able to dive the re­mains of HMAV Bounty and the sunken HMS Corn­wal­lis. Take pre­cau­tions, as con­di­tions can be treach­er­ous.
