This was the second highest rate for any area of England and Wales outside of London and the 15th highest rate out of around 180 local authority areas when London was included.
Across England and Wales abortion rates have risen marginally in the past five years from 21 per cent in 2009 to 21.2 per cent in 2013.
Abortion rates among pregnant teenagers stand at an average of 50.7 per cent although teenagers in Wales are less likely to get an abortion than those in England.
Teenage abortion rates in Wales stand at 45.4 per cent compared to 51.1 per cent for England.
Despite having an overall abortion rate of well above average the teen pregnancy abortion rate in Coventry is actually slightly below average at 49.8 per cent.
The news comes just days after Coventry was revealed as one of the worst places in England and Wales for teenage pregnancies.
