Jeremy’s head­ing back to where it all started...

RA­DIO 2 pre­sen­ter and for­mer Tele­graph reporter Jeremy Vine is head­ing back to Coven­try for a spe­cial edi­tion of his ra­dio show this week.

This Wed­nes­day, The Jeremy Vine Show will be broad­cast live from the front lobby of the old Tele­graph build­ing on Cor­po­ra­tion Street.

The pro­gramme is set to fea­ture some sur­prise spe­cial guests and will cel­e­brate the jour­nal­ist’s old stomp­ing ground.

Jeremy’s ca­reer in jour­nal­ism be­gan when he started as a trainee reporter at the Coven­try Evening Tele­graph af­ter grad­u­at­ing from Durham Univer­sity in 1986.

Ac­cord­ing to his web­site, his daily show on Ra­dio 2 is the most lis­tened to cur­rent af­fairs pro­gramme in the UK.

The old city cen­tre Tele­graph of­fices stood empty af­ter 2012 when the paper moved to its cur­rent home in Canal Basin, but ear­lier this year the prop­erty was turned into a pop up com­mu­nity venue and artspace called the CET build­ing.

An­nounc­ing the oc­ca­sion on their Face­book page, the CET build­ing teased at celebrity guests and some Coven­try themes fea­tures for the show but no de­tails have been re­leased.

The BBC ra­dio sched­ule for Wed­nes­day 9 Novem­ber says: “The Jeremy Vine Show will broad­cast live from Coven­try to cel­e­brate the city it­self, its mu­sic, cul­ture and in­dus­try - and 50 years of Lo­cal Ra­dio.

“The pro­gramme will come live from the old of­fices of the Coven­try Evening Tele­graph, where Jeremy Vine had his first job af­ter univer­sity.”
