Disruption alert over roadworks

Warwickshire Telegraph - - NEWS - By ELIS SANDFORD

NEW roadworks were set to begin in Coventry city and could cause rush hour disruption.

Starting on Wednesday, work to repair crash barriers on Coventry ring road is underway.

And Coventry City Council has warned that this will, in all likelihood, result in delays.

The work is taking place between Junctions 5 and 6 with barriers in the anti-clockwise direction and on the central reservation being looked at.

This is the section of ring road near to the underpass section which runs over Coventry station square.

It is unclear what caused damage to the crash barriers or why they need repairing.

On Wednesday there was some disruption for motorists as workers prepared the section of carriageway for works.

Coventry City Council is carrying out the works, which have resulted in a lane closure.

The ring road is especially busy during rush hour and it is expected that this will add to the traffic woes for Coventry commuters.

Set to run between 9.30am and 3.30pm, the works are expected to be completed on Monday afternoon.
