IT’S time to re­mem­ber Guy Fawkes’ at­tempt to blast apart the Houses of Par­lia­ment in 1605.

The brains be­hind the plot, Robert Catesby, was a lo­cal lad - he was born in Lap­worth and lived in Strat­ford.

In 1606, it be­came an an­nual cus­tom for the King and Par­lia­ment to com­mis­sion a ser­mon to com­mem­o­rate the event .

But what events will be go­ing on in Coven­try and War­wick­shire to cel­e­brate bon­fire night?

Over the week­end, lo­cal rugby clubs across Coven­try will be putting on their own dis­plays.

Stoke Old Boys - Mon­day Novem­ber 5th, Al­bert Gale Field Stoke. Bon­fire and fire­works. £5 adults £2.50 chil­dren, £12.50 fam­ily of four. Big fire­works dis­play, bon­fire, bar, mu­sic, Bar­beque and sweet stalls.

Keres­ley Rugby Club - On Satur­day 3 Novem­ber 2018, Keres­ley Rugby Club will have its dis­play from 5pm. 01676 540082.

Old Coven­tri­ans RFC - Sun­day 4th Novem­ber, gates from 5pm. Bon­fire to be lit at 6pm, Fire­works Dis­play 7pm. Adults £4 Chil­dren un­der 16 £2, Fam­ily £10 (two adults up to three chil­dren).

East­ern Green - Satur­day Novem­ber 4th, gates 6pm, bon­fire 6.30pm, fire­works dis­play 8pm. Bar­be­cue mar­ket stall, disco. Child ticket £2.50 age four to 14, Adult £4, adv, £1 more at the gate. 21st East­ern Green Scouts.

The Nuneaton Civic Bon­fire will be on 3 Novem­ber 2018, from 5.30pm at the Jubilee Sports Cen­tre, Green­moor Rd.
