Ca­reer­sFest set to re­turn for stu­dents mak­ing next move

THE hugely pop­u­lar Ca­reer­sFest event is set to re­turn to Coven­try to help stu­dents make the tran­si­tion from univer­sity to work.

The fes­ti­val aims to help boost em­ploy­a­bil­ity with a range of work­shops, events and ac­tiv­i­ties for Coven­try Univer­sity Group stu­dents.

Vis­tors will have to the chance to build their work-ready skills and find out more about grad­u­ate op­por­tu­ni­ties avail­able.

The four-day event, or­gan­ised by Coven­try Univer­sity’s Ca­reers de­part­ment, will take place across the cam­pus from Oc­to­ber 16 to 19.

Themed ca­reers cafes will of­fer ad­vice on CV and ap­pli­ca­tion writ­ing and ex­plor­ing ca­reer op­tions, while there will also be work­shops around mock as­sess­ments, get­ting into teach­ing and net­work­ing events.

The head­line event of the week is The Big Fair, a ca­reers fair or­gan­ised by CU Coven­try and Coven­try Univer­sity Ca­reers on Wed­nes­day, Oc­to­ber 17.

It is be­ing spon­sored by AO and Yazaki and will fea­ture more than 65 ex­hibitors of lo­cal and na­tional employers in­clud­ing Jaguar Land Rover , West Mid­lands Po­lice, Sev­ern Trent Wa­ter , Bar­ratt De­vel­op­ments Plc, Ryanair, Na­tional Grid, High­ways Eng­land, KPMG and the NHS Lead­er­ship Academy.

The employers will show­case place­ments, in­tern­ships, vol­un­teer­ing roles and grad­u­ate po­si­tions avail­able.

More than 3,500 stu­dents at­tended last year’s event, and the 2018 Ca­reer­sFest is ex­pected to be just as pop­u­lar.

Aysha Ab­dul­lah, ca­reers and em­ploy­a­bil­ity man­ager at CU Coven­try, said: “Ca­reer­sFest is an ex­cel­lent op­por­tu­nity for Coven­try Univer­sity Group stu­dents to build their skills as they look to take a step on the ca­reer lad­der.

“Our main event of the week, The Big Fair, will fea­ture a huge num­ber of employers who will be speaking to stu­dents about the op­por­tu­ni­ties they have on of­fer.”

Kyle Mad­den, em­ployer en­gage­ment man­ager at Coven­try Univer­sity , added: “A va­ri­ety of events are tak­ing place across the week with the chance to net­work with employers from a wide range of in­dus­tries and find out more about the va­ri­ety of po­si­tions avail­able.

“Last year we held our very first Ca­reer­sFest which was a huge suc­cess, and we look for­ward to wel­com­ing thou­sands more stu­dents.”
