Try the new Outlook.com beta
Microsoft is relaunching Outlook.com and it wants to know what you think about the revamped webmail service. To find out, it has introduced a beta version that you can access by toggling a switch in the top right-hand corner of your inbox. If you can’t see it, replace ‘/owa/’ in the Outlook.com web address with ‘/mail/’, press Enter and the new interface should appear.
As well as a fresher look, its new features include speedier searching (with a new search box across the top of the page), file and photo previews that appear to the right of conversations, and easy access to emoji and GIFS. Images you send or receive are now all saved in one place and you can personalise your inbox to help you find friends and other people more quickly.
There’s also a new Quick Suggestions feature, which detects keywords such as football clubs, flights and restaurants, and provides links to information about them. If you don’t like the new look, you can switch back to the old Outlook.com whenever you like. Updates to Calendar and People are promised in the future, and Microsoft says it will read all user feedback. www.outlook.com
