West Lothian Courier - - News - Staff reporter

The family of inspirational teenager Jak Trueman are marking what would have been his 18th birthday with a special fundraising party.

Jak passed away in 2015 after a brave battle with rare cancer gamma delta T- cell lymphoma and would have turned 18 on September 21.

His mum Allison Barr and her family are remembering the big hearted teen by organising a bowling party at Deer Park this Sunday from 3.30pm until 5.30pm.

The cost is £10 per person which includes two games of bowling, a fizzy drink, chips and much more.

Allison said: “We are also having a huge party afterwards in the function suite to celebrate Jak’s birthday and are also presenting awards to all our volunteers which is to recognise the great work they are doing to help raise funds and awareness.

“We are also having a pub and restaurant challenge for this month, which is Childhood Cancer Awareness month and are asking local pubs to ‘Buy a Pint for Jak’ and get as many of their customers to donate £3 to Team Jak and fill as many pint glasses as they can with £1 coins to celebrate Jak’s 18th.

“We are also encouraging folks to have their own challenge for Team Jak.”
