Po­lice tar­get Livi youths

Po­lice will be in­creas­ing their pres­ence in Liv­ingston after re­ceiv­ing a num­ber of com­plaints from res­i­dents about large groups of youths con­gre­gat­ing near to the River Al­mond.

The youths have been re­ported to be in­volved in the thefts of wheelie bins and set­ting them alight in the parks and wooded area in Liv­ingston Vil­lage.

There has also been signs of al­co­hol be­ing in­volved.

Po­lice Sergeant Iain Wells said: “Fol­low­ing com­plaints re­ceived re­gard­ing the con­duct of some young per­sons the po­lice will be pro­vid­ing ad­di­tional at­ten­tion to the Liv­ingston Vil­lage area.

“We have es­tab­lished the names of some of those in­volved, who are from a Liv­ingston sec­ondary school and they will be get­ting a visit.

“I would like to en­cour­age par­ents through­out the Liv­ingston area to have a dis­cus­sion with their chil­dren as to where they are go­ing and what they are do­ing when out in the evenings.”
