Flooding shuts golf course and causes water main burst

-

A West Lothian golf course was forced to shut due to flooding and residents were left without water after a water main burst on Wednesday morning.

Deer Park Golf and Country Club in Livingston had to close the course on Wednesday after a burst water main flooded some of the holes and access roads while local residents complained of water shortages.

Speaking on Wednesday morning a spokesperson for Deer Park Golf and Country Club said: “We’re able to reopen inside the building but we’re badly affected on the golf course.

“I believe it happened about 7.45 am. A water main burst on the way into the golf course.”

The spokesperson said that they were still assessing the damage from the flooding and that some of the water had started to drain away from the road but remained on the course.

They said: “We’ve still got a lot of water on the ninth tee.”

Residents of Ladywell took to Twitter to complain to Scottish Water about their supply on the morning of the burst water main.

Really..who cares wrote: “@ scottish_ water is there a supply issue in Ladywell Livingston.”

Scottish Water replied: “Hi- we have had reports of a bad burst at Deer Park - engineers are on the way to investigate.”

Shelly Cinar wrote: “@ scottish_ water no water in Ryebank, Ladywell, Livingston! Any idea how long it’ll be out?”

A spokesperson for Scottish Water said: “We received reports of burst main at Deer Park, Livingston in the early hours of this morning.

“Our operatives are currently on site carrying out the necessary repairs and have restored water supplies.

“We apologise for the disruption and thank customers for their patience.”
