Call to join in vil­lage clean up

Peo­ple in Kirknew­ton are be­ing en­cour­aged to take part in a com­mu­nity clean-up.

Any­one who wants to take part can meet at the vil­lage hall on satur­day (novem­ber 4) at 2pm where they can bor­row pick­ing equip­ment and tackle an area of their choos­ing.

The event wraps up at 4pm and at 6pm there will be a camp­fire at Kirknew­ton park.

Please wear suit­able cloth­ing and footwear, adults are re­spon­si­ble for the safety of their chil­dren.

Laura Bil­ton, youth and vol­un­teer co­or­di­na­tor with Kirknew­ton Com­mu­nity De­vel­op­ment trust, said:“the clean-up is be­ing or­gan­ised by Kirknew­ton Clean-up Krew, KICK.

They are a new lit­ter pick­ing group that was started by some par­ents and chil­dren in Kirknew­ton to hold lit­ter picks af­ter large events on the Kirknew­ton cal­en­dar. this will teach chil­dren the im­por­tance of pick­ing up lit­ter and pro­tect­ing then en­vi­ron­ment.”
