Preparations underway for next summer’s Bathgate Procession Brass band
It might be seven months away but preparations are already well underway for Bathgate Procession and John Newland Festival 2018.
The organising committee are appealing for youngsters who stay in Bathgate to take on the roles of the main characters in the historic pageant on Saturday, June 2.
Organisers are looking for three girls in S1 to play the roles of the Rainbow Queen, Flower Queen and Lady of the court and three girls between S2 and S6 to be Ladies in Waiting.
Also needed is one girl from S4 to S6 for the role of Princess Marjory, two boys from S2 to S6 to play Lord Lyon and the Earl of Moray and one boy from S4 to S6 to play Walter Lord High Steward. The search criteria has been changed to allow more pupils to have the chance to come forward and anyone interested can submit their name to Phyllis Sproul by calling 01506 651214. After a very successful 30th anniversary concert, Newland Concert Brass is keen for more players to join its team.
The band is particularly keen to hear from cornet, horn and percussion players.
More details can be found on the band’s website.
