Prepa­ra­tions un­der­way for next sum­mer’s Bath­gate Pro­ces­sion Brass band

It might be seven months away but prepa­ra­tions are al­ready well un­der­way for Bath­gate Pro­ces­sion and John New­land Fes­ti­val 2018.

The or­gan­is­ing com­mit­tee are ap­peal­ing for young­sters who stay in Bath­gate to take on the roles of the main char­ac­ters in the his­toric pageant on Satur­day, June 2.

Or­gan­is­ers are look­ing for three girls in S1 to play the roles of the Rain­bow Queen, Flower Queen and Lady of the court and three girls be­tween S2 and S6 to be Ladies in Wait­ing.

Also needed is one girl from S4 to S6 for the role of Princess Mar­jory, two boys from S2 to S6 to play Lord Lyon and the Earl of Mo­ray and one boy from S4 to S6 to play Wal­ter Lord High Steward. The search cri­te­ria has been changed to al­low more pupils to have the chance to come for­ward and any­one in­ter­ested can sub­mit their name to Phyl­lis Sproul by call­ing 01506 651214. Af­ter a very suc­cess­ful 30th an­niver­sary con­cert, New­land Con­cert Brass is keen for more play­ers to join its team.

The band is par­tic­u­larly keen to hear from cor­net, horn and per­cus­sion play­ers.
