Help for ex car­ers

The West Loth­ian Fi­nan­cial In­clu­sion Net­work (WLFIN) have a new group sup­port­ing ex car­ers.

When the car­ing role ends, the ex-carer can of­ten face fi­nan­cial and emo­tional iso­la­tion and the group aims to re­duce iso­la­tion, in­crease con­fi­dence and also help those who are of work­ing age at­tain em­ploy­a­bil­ity skills.

There will be free or­gan­ised weekly meet­ings/ ses­sions cov­er­ing a range of top­ics cho­sen by the at­ten­dees.

There will also be the op­por­tu­nity to ac­cess dig­i­tal in­clu­sion us­ing a tablet to keep in touch with fam­ily and friends, learn how to do this safely and gain con­fi­dence and skills in us­ing the in­ter­net and the op­por­tu­nity to ac­cess em­ploy­a­bil­ity sup­port held in a group or in­di­vid­u­ally.

To as­sist with the fi­nan­cial bur­dens there will be wel­fare and ben­e­fit ad­vice and also bud­get­ing classes and ses­sions.
