Uphall Community Council Next meeting takes place on Wednesday March 21 at 7pm in Uphall Community Centre. 100 years ago In February 1918, the 1st Broxburn Girl Guide Company was registered and, to mark this occasion, there is a display of photographs and other memorabilia in an area of the Community Museum at the Strathbrock Partnership. These pictures and documents feature leaders and girls who have been members of this Guide Company over the years. The first Rainbow Unit to be registered in West Lothian was the one in Broxburn and Uphall District and that took place 30 years ago in March 1988. A few pictures of this unit have also been included in the display. The 1st Uphall Brownie Pack was the first pack to be registered in West Lothian which shows, when it came to “leading the way”, the leaders and girls from this part of the county certainly did that. Crafters Destash Sale Many thanks to all who helped and supported the Crafters Destash Sale Saturday February 24 in Strathbrock Church hall, I am delighted to say that we raised £1,095 on the day. It was great to hear the hall buzzing and really heartening that so many people enjoyed the event. I have received lovely feedback from both the stallholders and customers. Edinburgh Direct Aid were delighted with the donations made by some of the stallholders of wool, material and sewing items, this appeal is still ongoing so please help if you can. The event would not have been possible without the team of helpers who manned the cafe and stalls; cooked the bacon rolls; and supervised the car park. Many thanks to all those that helped and donated to this event.
