Maddison’s going for gold

West Lothian Courier - - Sports -

Broxburn boxer Maddison Clarkson has been selected to represent Team Scotland at the prestigious TriNations Championships in Cardiff later this month.

The 13-year-old southpaw will be going for gold in the 2005s 43kg category against the best boxers from Scotland, Wales and England at Sophia Gardens in the Welsh capital on July 27 and 28.

And mum Lorraine is confident that the young star can bring back the title.

She said:“Maddison is really excited about the chance to compete in the Tri Nations and we were both shocked and delighted when we got the letter through saying that she had been selected for the competition. It was something that was on her bucket list and she has worked hard to achieve.

“We don’t know too much at this stage about who she will be coming up against, but she’s just going to be focusing on her own game and doing everything she can to be properly prepared for the challenge.”

Maddison fights out of Sparta Boxing Academy in Grangemouth.
