Eateries chase italian awards
three Bathgate eateries are celebrating after finding out they are in the shortlist for a prestigious food award.
the 6th annual scottish italian awards takes place next month celebrating the best the industry has to offer.
organisers have searched the length and breadth of scotland looking for the crème de la crème and have named three Bathgate establishments as nominees.
Luna Caffe is in the running for best deli/cafe, La piuma restaurant for best newcomer and Liberta is in the best pasta category.
the three businesses have made it to the glittering finals thanks to votes from members of the public.
a spokesperson for the awards said: “We’ve seen a number of italian businesses in scotland battle it out over the past 10 weeks - pushing hard to try to make the final by generating public votes.
“now that they’ve been counted, we can confirm that over 50,000 votes have been generated from this year’s campaign!
“the next step is for scotland’s favourite italian businesses and venues to be shortlisted as proud finalists for 2018.
“to those lucky enough to be shortlisted, you will be visited by a panel of our esteemed independent judges and scored accordingly.
“the judge’s decisions are final and the winner will be crowned at our now legendary annual gala taking place this year on november 11 at the double tree by Hilton, glasgow.
“the evening is always filled with Vip guests and celebrities and the 2018 gala Final will be hosted by tV and radio personality des Clarke.” past winners have included the gino d’acampo My restaurant group, antonio Carluccio and ginaro Contaldo and some well known guests who have previously attended include celebrity chef aldo Zilli, jockey Frankie dettori, Love island’s alberti twins and nancy dell’olio.
