Karen Stewart 01506 882880 karen136wlc@ya­hoo.co.uk St John’s Project – PCAP (Prevent­ing Cri­sis Ad­vice Project) the aim of the project is to re­duce lev­els of worry and dis­tress to pa­tients who are sud­denly/un­ex­pect­edly ad­mit­ted to St John’s Hos­pi­tal, Liv­ingston. Work­ing in close part­ner­ship with West Loth­ian Coun­cil and NHS Loth­ian pa­tients will be able to ac­cess rel­e­vant, tai­lored ad­vice, in­for­ma­tion and ad­vo­cacy re­gard­less of their health con­di­tion or cir­cum­stances of their ad­mit­tance. The project pro­vides free, in­de­pen­dent and con­fi­den­tial ad­vice, in­for­ma­tion and ad­vo­cacy ser­vices to pa­tients of St John’s. Re­fer­rals can be made through the Cit­i­zens Ad­vice bu­reau West Loth­ian on 01506 444814 and the Ad­vice Shop on 01506 283000 or at the St John’s in­for­ma­tion desk at the main re­cep­tion where a sel­f­re­fer­ral box is lo­cated. Kirknew­ton and East Calder Church The church hall in Kirknew­ton is used by var­i­ous or­gan­i­sa­tions ex­ter­nal to the church as well as by church or­gan­i­sa­tions. Kirknew­ton Youth Club is a weekly group for P7 and S1-S6 young peo­ple which meets on Fri­day evenings from 6-8pm in the Vil­lage Hall or the Green Room. Rain­bows Girls aged 5-7 are wel­come to come along to Kirknew­ton Vil­lage Hall ev­ery Wed­nes­day dur­ing term times from 5-6.15pm. We have lots of fun do­ing dif­fer­ent crafts, play­ing all sorts of games, learn­ing new things, work­ing to­wards spe­cial Girl Guid­ing badges and there is al­ways lots of laugh­ing go­ing on. Rain­bows al­ways have a long wait­ing list so if you are in­ter­ested in your child join­ing in the fun please don’t wait till they are 5 to ask to join. Con­tact Gill at gillww@hot­mail.com.

Brown­ies is for girls aged 7-10 and takes place af­ter Rain­bows on a Wed­nes­day in the vil­lage hall 6.30-8pm dur­ing term times. We are sim­i­lar to Rain­bows but aim it at the slightly older age group. Games, crafts, badges, out­ings and week­ends away at Brownie Camp are just a few of the ex­cit­ing things the girls get up to when at Brown­ies. Through this ac­tion-packed pro­gramme, girls can build con­fi­dence by de­vel­op­ing new skills, learn­ing about the wider com­mu­nity, find­ing out about dif­fer­ent cul­tures and get­ting in­volved with global is­sues like the en­vi­ron­ment and en­dan­gered species.
