Bath­gate Con­cert Orches­tra will hold a spe­cial event to com­mem­o­rate the end of the First World War.

The con­cert will be held in Boghall Par­ish Church on Oc­to­ber 19 at 7.30pm.

The pro­gramme will fea­ture light clas­si­cal mu­sic on a mil­i­tary theme in­clud­ing Haydn’s Sym­phony No. 100‘Mil­i­tary’and con­clud­ing with Ralph Vaughan Wil­liams’sub­lime‘The Lark As­cend­ing’, fea­tur­ing guest soloist Bar­bara Downie, vi­o­lin­ist with the BBC Scot­tish Sym­phony Orches­tra.

‘Lark As­cend­ing’has re­peat­edly been named by Clas­sic FM’s Hall of Fame as the na­tion’s most loved piece of clas­si­cal mu­sic and it’s haunt­ing melodies echo the sor­row and lost gen­er­a­tion of the First World War.

The con­cert will be con­ducted by young Scot­tish con­duc­tor, Michael Gra­ham.

Tick­ets are £7 and chil­dren go free.
