Joust delayed – but here come some top movies!
Organisers of the Loxwood Joust have confirmed they are postponing this year’s ‘mediaeval mayhem until September to ensure the safety and health of participants and visitors comes first’.
Now in its ninth year The Loxwood Joust has historically always taken place on the first and second weekend of August.
But, to fully comply with all government guidelines, the decision has been taken to postpone the event, with new dates of September 19 and 20 now confirmed.
Organiser Danny Bacon said: “The health and safety of everyone involved is always our top priority.
“And, following government advice, we are sorry to announce that this much-loved event will not take place this August.
“However, our many participants who so look forward to our unique mediaeval festival and are what makes this event so special are already lined up to join us in September.
“We will be keeping a close eye on the Covid-19 situation over the next few months and will continue to follow all guidance before making a final decision in mid-August for this year’s Joust. The Loxwood Joust has committed to contacting everyone who has already purchased an advance ticket in the next few weeks. All current tickets will be valid for the September dates or for the celebratory tenth Loxwood Joust event in 2021.”
Danny added: “For those more than ready for a socially distanced, safe night out, the big screen is lighting up in the Loxwood Meadows this July with the launch of Loxwood Drive-In Movies. This American-style drive in movie extravaganza is going to turn the dream into a reality, and for those that still yearn to see mediaeval knights in action, and in recognition of its location, the first evening’s showing at this movie extravaganza is A Knight’s Tale on July 9.”
