Eatery forced to shut after bird flies in
A BRANCH of Pizza Hut had to close after a pigeon got inside and would not shift for hours.
Customers were turned away from the eatery during the incident and environmental health inspectors were called in.
It is unclear how the pigeon managed to enter the restaurant, in Exeter, Devon, but staff were unable to dislodge it for several hours.
They said the eatery was given a deep clean before reopening the following day.
A Pizza Hut spokesperson said: “Health and safety is of the utmost importance to Pizza Hut restaurants and we are committed to maintaining high standards in all our restaurants.
“Our restaurant at Exe Bridges in Exeter closed temporarily for a few hours on September 27 due to a pigeon being inside the restaurant.
“Our independent inspectors visited the restaurant and removed the pigeon.”
They added: “As per our standard procedure, a full clean was undertaken prior to reopening the next day to ensure we continue to meet our stringent levels of hygiene.”
