Fa­ther dies from stab wounds

AFA­THER-OF-TWO has died from stab wounds af­ter an in­ci­dent which also left his wife fight­ing for her life.

The man, named lo­cally as 35-year-old Craig Ste­wart, was found with fa­tal in­juries at an ad­dress in Bris­tol on Thurs­day evening

A woman, un­der­stood to be his wife Natalie, was taken to hos­pi­tal and was said to have suf­fered “lifethreat­en­ing in­juries”.

Po­lice put a cor­don in place af­ter the in­ci­dent in Cam­bridge Street, off Avon­vale Road in the Red­field area of the city.

A spokesper­son for Avon and Som­er­set Con­stab­u­lary said: “We can con­firm that, sadly, a man has died af­ter suf­fer­ing stab wounds in an in­ci­dent at an ad­dress in the Red- field area of Bris­tol.

“We were called to a prop­erty off Avon­vale Road just af­ter 5pm to re­ports that two peo­ple had suf­fered life-threat­en­ing in­juries.

“A woman is still in a crit­i­cal con­di­tion in hos­pi­tal.

“This is be­lieved to be iso­lated in­ci­dent and we are cur­rently not look­ing for any­one in con­nec­tion with our in­ves­ti­ga­tion.”

Po­lice ini­tially re­ported that paramedics were treat­ing the man at the scene af­ter the woman was taken to hos­pi­tal.

A spokesman pre­vi­ously added: “The two vic­tims are known to each other.”

A South West­ern Am­bu­lance Ser­vice spokesman con­firmed that they at­tended but wouldn’t com­ment fur­ther.

Po­lice have ap­pealed for any­one with in­for­ma­tion that might help their in­ves­ti­ga­tion to come for­ward.
