Led by a charlatan who wins elections

I NOTE that Brexit cheerleader

Tom Trust considers that the government’s handling of the Covid19 pandemic has been “totally inept at just about every step”.

Unfortunately government ministers were not chosen after the December election for their ability to run a government department but either because they were committed to Brexit or they were prepared to follow the new Tory orthodoxy despite any reservations they may have privately held. Most of the competent and more principled Tories were either purged or stood down at the last election.

As for Boris Johnson, he won the votes of the majority of MPs (before the party faithful voted on him as leader) not because they liked or trusted him but because they thought he would win the next general election.

So we are now led by a charlatan who can win elections and write effective newspaper articles and his chief adviser Dominic Cummings who has been held in contempt of a previous parliament for failing to appear before a select committee.
