Take on a tough run for a worthy cause

Cancer Research UK Tough 10, Port Talbot

-

PORT Talbot is one of the first locations chosen for the latest Cancer Research UK fundraiser, Tough 10. The charity is inviting daring men and women to tackle a 10k trail run, complete with thigh-burning hills, tough terrain and challenging muddy slopes.

Set in the beautiful Margam Country Park, the route starts near the Discovery Centre and takes runners into the hills with stunning views of Swansea Bay.

Each event in the Tough 10 series is marked tough, tougher or toughest based on the level of difficulty of each course.

The Margam route is ranked tough so it’s suitable for regular runners or first timers looking for a challenge.

If you are feeling breathless already, you’ll be pleased to hear that there it is an obstacle-free race.

Cancer Research UK is dedicated to bring forward the day when cancers are cured.

The charity’s ambition is to accelerate progress and see three-quarters of people surviving the disease within the next 20 years.

Race for Life, Relay for Life and Tough Mudder are some of the successful fund raising events they run across the UK every year.

The event takes place on Saturday, October, 14 at 11am.

You must be aged 16 or over on the day of the event to take part. Persons aged 16 or 17 must take part with either a parent, guardian or, if having obtained their parent or legal guardian’s permission, with another registered participant aged 18 or over.

Entry costs £25, which includes chip timing, parking, training guidance, fundraising support and a medal for every participant.

There is free parking on-site, including disabled. Participants can also be dropped off outside the gates into the car park at the Discovery Centre entrance.

If running isn’t for you, then there are many other ways you can help out on event day, whether setting up marquees and putting out flags and banners or getting water to the start line.
