Swimmer facing rape retrial
A COMMONWEALTH Games swimmer will face a retrial charged with rape after a jury was unable to reach a verdict, a court has heard.
Otto Putland, 23, will stand trial at Cardiff Crown Court in December accused of one charge of rape, which is alleged to have happened in July 2015.
The defendant, who represented Wales at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, had denied the allegation during his trial.
Judge Jeremy Jenkins adjourned the case until December 4 and released Putland, of Dinedor, near Hereford, on conditional bail.
