Scots fret over Hogg fitness

-

SCOTLAND are sweating over the fitness of star man Stuart Hogg ahead of the Six Nations opener against Wales in Cardiff.

The Glasgow full-back has not played since being forced to pull out of his country’s autumn win against Australia with a hip injury.

Hogg again sits out the Warriors’ Champions Cup clash against Leinster in Dublin on Sunday, as do fellow internationals Tommy Seymour, Jonny Gray and Finn Russell.

Glasgow forwards coach Jonathan Humphreys has said that Hogg will not be rushed back, but with the international squads due to meet up soon Scotland boss Gregor Townsend will be increasingly anxious.

“We’re desperately keen to have him back and so are Scotland but every caution will be taken with him,” said Humphreys.

“Hopefully he’ll be back in time for the Six Nations.

“He’s close to being back and it would be nice for him to have a game under his belt before he goes away with the national squad.”
