Couple burgled three families while they slept
A COUPLE sneaked into their victims’ homes at night while they were asleep and stole handbags, purses and bank cards.
Jonathan Davies, 31, and Sadie Hoyle, 28, burgled three families in one night, leaving them feeling unsettled and anxious.
The pair were told by a judge at Cardiff Crown Court they had stolen from “people from your community who were sleeping in their beds”.
The court heard the burglaries occurred overnight on October 20 last year at three properties in Ogmore Vale.
Emma Harris, prosecuting, said the first was in Water Street.
She told the court victim Paul Clatworthy went to bed around 9pm with his partner and child.
He woke at 4am to get ready for work and discovered his iPad, mobile phone, watch and bank cards were missing.
Mr Clatworthy said the burglary left them feeling “stressed” and “unsettled”.
He added: “It has had a really bad impact on my family.”
Davies and Hoyle, both from John Street, Nant-y-Moel, initially denied three counts of burglary but pleaded guilty on the day their trial was due to start.
Judge Eleri Rees jailed Davies for three and a half years and Hoyle was jailed for two years.
