This thinking flies in the face of US Secretary of State for Commerce Wilbur Ross’ statements in November that whilst negotiating a UK/USA trade deal would not “take 10 years” we would have to accept “lower tariffs and compromise” and to “change rules regarding food safety”. He also suggested USA vehicle safety standards should apply.
Anyone waiting for an instantaneous answer to future trade is in for a long wait unless we change our views and embrace the Customs Union.
