Encouraging employees to enter UK’s largest skills competition
A MANUFACTURING process improvement company based in Bridgend is encouraging other Welsh businesses to register their employees to compete at WorldSkills UK.
Probe RTS offers advice and training and has a growing web app development team.
The company has recently employed Alfie Hopkin, a former WorldSkills Team UK member who travelled to Abu Dhabi in 2017 to represent the UK as a web design expert, competing against more than 50 other nations.
Lynn Davies, director of Probe RTS, said: “We’ve gained a fantastic employee through Alfie. He’s a real asset to our team and is helping us to expand our offering to clients with some of the new skills he’s brought to the business.
“His experience as a WorldSkills competitor really made him stand out.”
Alfie said: “WorldSkills has put me in a much better position than most other young people my age.”
Backed by the Welsh Government through the European Social Fund, WorldSkills UK promotes the importance of developing a highly skilled workforce and world-class individuals.
Minister for Welsh Language and Lifelong Learning, Eluned Morgan said: “I would encourage all employers to consider investing in their future workforce through WorldSkills.”
