Encouragin­g employees to enter UK’s largest skills competitio­n

A MANUFACTUR­ING process improvemen­t company based in Bridgend is encouragin­g other Welsh businesses to register their employees to compete at WorldSkill­s UK.

Probe RTS offers advice and training and has a growing web app developmen­t team.

The company has recently employed Alfie Hopkin, a former WorldSkill­s Team UK member who travelled to Abu Dhabi in 2017 to represent the UK as a web design expert, competing against more than 50 other nations.

Lynn Davies, director of Probe RTS, said: “We’ve gained a fantastic employee through Alfie. He’s a real asset to our team and is helping us to expand our offering to clients with some of the new skills he’s brought to the business.

“His experience as a WorldSkill­s competitor really made him stand out.”

Alfie said: “WorldSkill­s has put me in a much better position than most other young people my age.”

Backed by the Welsh Government through the European Social Fund, WorldSkill­s UK promotes the importance of developing a highly skilled workforce and world-class individual­s.

Minister for Welsh Language and Lifelong Learning, Eluned Morgan said: “I would encourage all employers to consider investing in their future workforce through WorldSkill­s.”
