AN “insecure and controlling” bodybuilder beat up and humiliated his girlfriend and held her prisoner in their home.

Jasam Ahmed, who has competed for Britain in the Mr Universe contest, attacked his partner while subject to a suspended sentence imposed for harassing a previous girlfriend.

A judge told him that he needed to get a grip on the “fatal flaw” in his character – his “paranoid jealousy”.

Ahmed, of Crown Way, Llandarcy, Neath, pleaded guilty to common assault and assault occasioning actual bodily harm at Swansea Crown Court.

The court heard he has two previous convictions for harassing a former partner – including one which saw him “manhandling” the woman, take her keys and mobile phone, and stop her from leaving a property for several hours.

Judge Paul Thomas QC told Ahmed that his “immaturity and jealousy” caused him to be controlling towards his partner and told him he needed to “grow up”.

He said: “You are starting to appear as a man who treats woman as your possession – to do as you wish with them.

“Violence towards domestic partners will not be tolerated by this court.”

Ahmed was jailed for a total of 42 weeks.
