Man’s body found at river

PO­LICE in­ves­ti­gat­ing the dis­cov­ery of a body at a river have con­firmed it is that of a miss­ing man.

Richard An­drews, who was from the Me­lyn area of Neath and was known lo­cally as Mon­key, was re­ported miss­ing to po­lice in Jan­uary hav­ing not been seen since Septem­ber 2017.

His body was found at the end of last month on the banks of the River Neath at Neath Abbey Wharf, Skewen.

Of­fi­cers have been in­ves­ti­gat­ing the cir­cum­stances of the 49-yearold’s dis­ap­pear­ance since. His body was dis­cov­ered by a mem­ber of the pub­lic on Satur­day, Septem­ber 29. His fam­ily have been in­formed and are be­ing sup­ported by spe­cially trained of­fi­cers.

A spokesman for South Wales Po­lice said: “Of­fi­cers are con­tin­u­ing to ap­peal for the pub­lic’s help in piec­ing to­gether Mr An­drews’ move­ments from the time he went miss­ing un­til his body was found.”
