Hel­ston pub named re­gion’s most dog-friendly in na­tion­wide awards event

A pub in Hel­ston has been named as the most dog-friendly in the South West.

The Halzephron Inn was named best in the re­gion by an on­line dog sit­ting plat­form DogBuddy.com, which are in the third year of or­gan­is­ing the Dog-friendly Pub Awards.

Claire Mur­ray, land­lady at The Halzephron Inn was de­lighted with the news, said that their prox­im­ity to the South West Coast Path meant wel­com­ing dogs was an im­por­tant part of their trade.

She said: “This is an amaz­ing award to win, as it is our cus- tomers who have recog­nised the hard work and ef­fort put in by our team to make ev­ery cus­tomer feel welcome.

“Be­ing dog-friendly is very im­por­tant to us; our busi­ness is lo­cated on the South West coastal path with stun­ning views.

“Be­ing able to welcome our furry friends with a bit of re­fresh­ment gives own­ers a rea­son to head to us.”

Also in­cluded in the top 10 are The Ship Inn (Teign­mouth) in sec­ond place, the Vic­to­ria Inn (Sal­combe) in fifth, St Kew Inn (Bod­min) in eighth, Son­der (Truro) in ninth, and The Pub on the Hoe (Ply­mouth) in 10th.

Pubs in Glouces­ter and Dorset rounded out the top 10.
