Baby Isaac’s arrival pushes parents Cain and Moira to battle their demons
Unexpected parenthood isn’t going well for Cain. The arrival of the baby has made things tricky with Harriet and seen Moira reject his recent attempt to rekindle their love. And on top of all that, Cain’s about to get a stark look at his past, leaving him wondering about Isaac’s future…
As Cain’s ex Moira continues to struggle with sleepless nights and a crying, needy newborn, worried gran Faith is pushing Cain to get involved. With the christening looming, Cain arrives, on his mum’s insistence, to help Moira make some decisions.
The farmer limply agrees to Victoria and Adam being the godparents, but Moira is still numb to her own child. Later, as the service takes place, Moira’s had a sleepless night. It’s clear she’s not coping, and folk worry further when she suddenly disappears. But then Moira bursts in on Adam’s meeting with an adoption officer and says her son and wife Victoria should look after her child! How will Cain react to Moira’s bombshell suggestion?
Now well aware Moira isn’t coping, Cain is powerless to resist when Faith tells him his ex needs him at Butler’s again. ‘Cain gets in the car, but Faith then drives him to the house where he grew up!’ says Jeff Hordley, who plays him. ‘These ghosts from the past come back. There’s a flashback to the 1980s. A young cast plays us.’
It’s no secret that neither Cain nor his sister Chas have any respect for their mother. But what was their childhood like? As Faith takes Cain on a trip down memory lane, unearthing dark secrets from his past, will the jolt push him to step up for Isaac?
