Tanya bans desperate Max from Abi’s funeral...
Max is keen to lay Abi to rest but he’s horrified when Lauren tells him his youngest daughter’s funeral has already happened.
It hasn’t, of course. Lauren is lying for her mum, Tanya, who doesn’t want the man she blames for Abi’s death to attend her daughter’s funeral even if he is her dad. She may have allowed him to be at Abi’s bedside when her life-support was turned off, but now the vengeful, grieving mum wants Max to feel nothing but pain and loss.
Absolutely floored, devastated Max turns to booze before hounding Lauren and Jay for information about Abi’s grave. Their refusal to give him anything to go on drives Max so wild that Mick is forced to step in…
Later, a calmer Max visits Lauren to tell her he understands why he was banished. Lauren’s relieved when he goes on to say he’ll be leaving Albert Square for a little while. It’s perfect timing as Abi’s funeral is days away.
But Lauren ends up stuffing up big time, causing Max to realise he’s been duped.
Max then becomes determined to find out more, but Lauren stands firm. After pointing out
Tanya won’t attend the funeral if he does, Lauren threatens to cut Max out of her life, too, if he persists. As the mourners gather, will Max do the right thing and stay away?
