Fans of last year’s Bake Off star Liam Charles will be pleased to discover he’s landed his own baking show. Liam’s enthusiasm is infectious and now he’s on a mission to get the whole nation baking as he shares some of his favourite recipes, inspired by his friends and family.

When the irrepressibly enthusiastic Liam Charles appeared on last year’s Bake Off, he impressed the C4 bosses so much that he’s now been given his own series! Liam

Bakes is the 21-yearold’s chance to present his recipes, which he bakes with mates.

‘It’s wicked – this is me in my everyday environment, baking with my friends and family. We’re making big dishes that everyone can get involved with, and I want to show that anyone can do it,’ says Liam. ‘My mum’s not a massive fan of the camera, but I told her she had to be on the show, so we made some savoury scones together. She likes to think she knows best in the kitchen! My nan makes a cameo, too.’

Each episode features four distinctive recipes and is shot out and about in east London, where Liam grew up. ‘I feel so proud of my community and they have always been really supportive – it was great to have them on camera,’ he says.

Liam can’t wait to share one of the recipes in particular: his delicious icecream sandwich!

‘It’s so cool – it’s ice cream set between two biscuits, but different toppings on both sides. It involves putting biscuits and Smarties in a blender!’
