For Holocaust Memorial Day, the BBC marks the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau with a season of special programmes.

These include a documentary in which a trio of women reflect on the Holocaust: Auschwitz survivor Kitty Hart-Moxon discusses her struggle to talk about what she suffered; children’s author Judith Kerr ( When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit and the Mog books) remembers her childhood escape from Nazi Germany; and Senior Reform Rabbi Laura Janner-Klausner learns about the fate of her forebears.

Other programmes in the season include Touched By Auschwitz (BBC Two), which charts the lives of six survivors; and The Eichmann Show (BBC Two), which looks at the televising of the 1961 trial of senior SS man Adolf Eichmann, seen as one of the chief architects of the Holocaust. The feature- length drama stars Martin Freeman and Anthony LaPaglia.
