Vol­un­teers work­ing to bring a lifeboat back to its for­mer glory are ap­peal­ing for more in­for­ma­tion about its crew. To mark the restora­tion of the

the North East Mar­itime Trust has be­gun a pro­ject to find out more about the brave men who served on board the ves­sel, which launched 32 times and saved eight lives.

Sta­tioned in Tynemouth be­tween 1918-39 and 1941- 47, it is known that five coxswains and 67 men formed the crew of the mo­tor boat – many liv­ing in Culler­coats, Tynemouth and North Shields.

It is hoped that once the restora­tion is com­plete, rel­a­tives can at­tend a cer­e­mony to launch the lifeboat back into the wa­ter.
