Antony Beevor (Viking, £25) Published three years after his colossal tome The Second World War, Antony Beevor’s latest effort focuses on a detailed account of the Ardennes Offensive, which saw Hitler attempt to drive the Allies out of Europe by navigating a rocky area of Belgian hinterland. Presented chronologically with a chapter for the author’s conclusions, no stone is left unturned in this very thorough investigation. £5 (£6.50 incl P& P) This contains a transcription of the first Rippleside Cemetery burial book from 1886-1902 which comprises 4,150 burials. Also included is a scan of St Margaret’s churchyard MIs from 1670 to 1929.
