VE Day: Re­mem­ber­ing Vic­tory

BBC ONE In ad­di­tion to Bri­tain’s Great­est Gen­er­a­tion, there are shows planned across the BBC to mark the 70th an­niver­sary of VE Day. Th­ese in­clude a 90-minute doc­u­men­tary in which celebri­ties in­clud­ing David At­ten­bor­ough, Bruce Forsyth, Es­ther Rantzen, Pa­trick Ste­wart and June Whit­field share their mem­o­ries of the day when Bri­tain threw its biggestever street party.

Other high­lights in­clude Churchill: Win­ning The War, Los­ing The Peace (BBC Two), which looks at why the Con­ser­va­tives were de­feated in the 1945 Gen­eral Elec­tion;

and Fight­ing For King And Em­pire: Bri­tain’s Caribbean He­roes, which finds Caribbean veter­ans re­call­ing their con­flict ex­pe­ri­ences, and also their strug­gles against prej­u­dice as Bri­tain be­came a mul­ti­cul­tural so­ci­ety.
