CAN YOU HELP?

Who Do You Think You Are? Magazine - - ON THE RECORD -

A project aiming to preserve the history of a Merseyside community is on the lookout for volunteers.

Members of the Kirkby University of the Third Age ( U3A) need researchers to help them tell the story of Kirkby between the 1940s and 1960s – a period that saw the town undergo major changes.

The initiative is just the first of nine projects supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund to help build the Archive Resource for Knowsley (ARK), based in Kirkby Library.

As well as the individual projects – which will look at additional topics, such as the Second World War – volunteers are also being sought to work on ARK itself to help upload records to the web.

To volunteer or share your own stories, please phone 0151 443 4291 or email jane.owens@ knowsley.gov.uk.
