The painstak­ing work of the old­est per­son ever to re­ceive a PhD from Cam­bridge Univer­sity has been re­pub­lished as a new two-vol­ume edi­tion. The Rail­ways of Great Bri­tain: A His­tor­i­cal At­las was com­piled by the late Colonel Michael Cobb, who un­der­took the re­search for his doc­tor­ate – awarded to him in 2008 at the age of 91.
