Who Do You Think You Are? Magazine - - NEW SERIES REVEALED -

Last Tango in Halifax actor Anne Reid has been putting smiles on audiences’ faces with her comedy performances for many years, but her career kicked off with her role as Valerie Barlow in

Coronation Street during the 1960s. She knows very little about her ancestry: “If you dig up a few murderers I’m not going to be shocked. I don’t think I’m going to get terribly weepy. I’d like to be related to colourful ancestors.” After many twists and turns, she does, indeed, find herself sat on a beach in Tasmania at the end of her episode, reflecting on her discoveries: “I’m enormously proud of having an ancestor who was a convict”, but his is not the run- of-themill transportation tale.
