I am writing to you regarding the Reader Story included in the August issue of WDYTYA? Magazine concerning the Clerkenwell Bombing. Sarah Ann Hodgkinson (née Pettifer), who is on Anita Horne’s tree, is also on my family tree.
I found the piece very interesting, and to find out that she had died as a result of a bomb attack that led to the last public hanging, was all news to me.
This is a big piece of history and I didn’t know about it until I read about it in the magazine – I was thrilled! Lesley Batt, by email Editor replies: Thank you for your email, Lesley.
