Irish society transcribes rare ‘census’
A team of Irish family historians has helped to make an historic Catholic ‘census’ more widely available. Organised by Claire Santry of www.irish genealogynews.com, members of the Irish Genealogical Research Society transcribed a list of people resident in Ballymena, Co Antrim, which was discovered inside a local parish register. Believed to date from 1887, the list records the names and ages of each parishioner, plus details of how regularly they attended mass. Search at irishancestors.ie.
