Who Do You Think You Are? Magazine - - WRITE IN -

I just watched Derek Jacobi’s episode of Who Do You Think You Are? and couldn’t believe it when Derek’s relative Armand Laplain and the 1841 census came up. I also have a copy of this record as Armand’s sister, Hannah, as mentioned in the programme, is my great great grandmother. I found out earlier tthis year that her mmarried name was SSudbury and that she had stayed in the FFrench hospital for a nnumber of years. As a family, there had allways been talk of a French connection annd we knew the nname of Laplain and I had managed to get back using records to 1800.

Now after watching this episode, I have gone back and found Salome, Joseph and son Guillaume De La Plaigne and his baptism in 1709.

I’m so excited to have at last found out the truth about our ancestors and would now love to uncover more about them. Thanks to Who Do You Think You Are? for making this great programme! Martin Todd, by email Editor replies: I loved this episode – and I’m really glad to hear that it helped you break down some brick walls. If anyone else shares an ancestry with any of the celebrities in this series, let us know!
